Jazz Around Festival – Keep it groovy

From time to time designers cross their path with a client whose main goal will be not so much to stand out from the competition, but to go in a completely different direction from everyone else.

Such a project is, of course, a huge challenge on the one hand, but also (or perhaps above all?) a great freedom and pleasure from the process.

About the client

Good Taste Production is one of the fastest growing concert agencies in Poland. They not only execute performances by individual artists, but are also masterminds behind such extraordinary festivals as Salt Wave Festival, Lekko Festival and Letnie Brzemienia.

Alexa, can you play…

From the very beginning, our client had a certain vision for the entire identity, while remaining fully open to our ideas. Good Taste Production shared with us not only visual inspirations, but especially musical ones, which allowed us to get a good understanding of what plays in their souls and minds.

We had three different aspects to combine into one coherent project:

That 70s’ show

This project required from us full immersion in the retro world. And not only in its design part, despite hundreds of analyzed posters and logos from the 60s and 70s. We listened to funk and jazz music from the era all day long, and we absorbed knowledge about the reality, artists and fashion of the time. Every detail had meaning for us.

With this knowledge, we were able to understand how our client wants to separate himself from others. We decided on a bold color scheme for such an event: muted and faded, but not gloomy. The sign itself refers to the logos of festivals of the era.

Everybody dance, now!

The subtleties we decided on together with the client while developing the corporate identity forced us to create strong and distinctive assets.

The Moszna Castle – itself one of the stars of the festival – became a part of the identity. We selected some of the most characteristic elements from its architecture, which became a living part of the key visual.

We created 4 figures of musicians for the festival, which look and feel exactly from the era. However, the most important (and interesting!) for us was their animation, which was modern in its form, but its rythm – funky.

A love letter to music

We were immediately connected with Good Taste Production by a common language and a passion for design and music. And the grand finale of this collaboration was our presence at Jazz Around Festival, where we had the opportunity to see our realization on a grand scale.

Let’s create something special together!
